Cricket Formats and Tournaments — Where to Bet

Cricket is more than a sport in Bangladesh — it runs on emotion. Betting works a little differently across each format, so understanding them upfront makes it easier to decide.

T20

BPL IPL T20 World Cup

Just 20 overs per side — fast scoring, frequent wickets, so odds shift ball by ball. Bangladesh fans bet most on this format during the BPL season. IPL and the ICC T20 World Cup are equally popular here.

ODI

World Cup Bilateral Series

In a 50-over match, the pace of play shifts gradually. Bowlers tend to dominate the middle overs, which can make the total runs market particularly useful. The ICC Cricket World Cup is the biggest ODI event.

Test

5-Day Match Innings Markets

In a five-day Test match, a draw is a real possible outcome, so there are three separate sets of odds. Pitch conditions, weather, and the end of each innings can shift the odds significantly — which makes it an interesting format for live betting.

At baji you can bet on BPL, IPL and international matches as well as various other tournaments. baji's baji Bet platform brings events across all formats into one place — no need to search separately.

baji Football and Other Sports Betting

Beyond Cricket — Football and Other Sports

Football may not be as popular as cricket, but the love for it in Bangladesh is real. You can bet at baji on European leagues, the FIFA World Cup and the AFC Championship.

Betting on football is a bit different from cricket. While cricket has more markets focused on individual performance (top batsman, wicket-taker), football is dominated by team result and goals markets.

Betting options are also available on tennis, badminton and hockey. Each sport has its own markets and odds structure, so it makes sense to start with the sport you know best.

Popular Betting Markets — How Each One Works

Cricket offers far more markets than just match winner. Here is a plain-language breakdown of the most commonly used ones.

Match Winner

The simplest market — bet on which team will win the match. In T20 or ODI there are two odds (no draw); in Test there are three (Team A win, Team B win, draw). Example: Team A odds 1.65, Team B odds 2.30 — if you back Team B with ৳1,000 and they win, you get back ৳2,300 (profit ৳1,300); if Team A wins, you lose ৳1,000.

Toss Winner

Settled before the match even starts. You bet on which team will win the toss — there are only two possible outcomes, so the odds for both teams are usually close. Interest in this market is high because winning the toss matters a lot on subcontinental pitches.

Top Batsman

Who will score the most runs for a team? In this market, each batter in a team is given separate odds. Whoever scores the highest runs wins the market for those who picked them. The batter's recent form and the pitch type play an important role here.

Total Runs (Over/Under)

The bookmaker sets a specific number — for example 165.5. If you think the team will score more, choose 'Over'; if less, choose 'Under'. Pitch pace, batting lineup and weather are all worth considering for this bet.

Multi Bet

Three or more selections combined into one bet — if all selections win, the odds multiply to give a larger return. Example: three selections at 1.60 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.90 (approximately), so a ৳100 bet returns ৳490 — but if even one selection loses, the entire bet is gone.

Wicket / Ball-by-Ball Markets

Bet on what happens in each over or delivery — dot ball, runs or wicket? This is mainly part of live betting and requires quick focus. These markets see the most movement in the final overs of a T20 match.

Reading Odds — Three Formats Made Simple

At baji and most betting sites, odds are shown in three formats: decimal, fractional and American. All three carry the same information — only the way they are written differs.

The example below shows odds on Team A winning in all three formats, with a stake of ৳200:

Format Odds Description
Decimal 2.25 Total return = stake × odds
Fractional 5/4 ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked
American +125 ৳125 profit on a ৳100 stake

With a ৳200 bet, if Team A wins the total return is ৳450 (profit ৳250 + original stake ৳200); if they lose, ৳200 is gone.

The favourite's odds are usually lower. Say Team B is the favourite — decimal 1.50, fractional 1/2, American -200 (minus means you need to stake ৳200 to win ৳100). A ৳200 bet returns ৳300 (profit ৳100).

Decimal — the simplest

Multiply the odds directly by your stake — the result is your total return. Decimal is usually the default format at baji.

Fractional — the traditional British format

5/4 means a profit of ৳5 for every ৳4 staked. The numerator is the profit; the denominator is the portion staked.

American — plus and minus

+125 means ৳125 profit on a ৳100 stake (underdog). -200 means you need to stake ৳200 to win ৳100 profit (favourite).

baji Live In-Play Cricket Betting

Live Betting — Odds Change Every Over

Betting while a match is in progress is in-play betting, and in cricket it is the most engaging experience of all. With every wicket that falls, the batting team's odds shorten and the bowling team's lengthen. The opposite happens when runs come quickly in the powerplay.

Take this example: at the 15th over of a T20 match, a team has lost five wickets and is nowhere near the target — their odds to win will have risen sharply because their chances have dropped. This direct connection between the flow of play and shifting odds is what makes live betting distinct.

In live betting, though, decisions have to be made quickly. Wait a moment and the odds may already have moved. That is where baji's baji App helps — it gives you real-time updates on mobile, which is handy when you are watching the match in Dhaka or Chattogram and want to bet at the same time.

Before You Start Betting — Some Practical Tips

Betting is a form of entertainment. Treating it as a source of income would be a mistake — winning and losing are both a normal part of every bet.

  • Start with one format. T20, ODI and Test each have their own rhythm. Once you are comfortable with one format, the others become easier.
  • Set a budget. Decide in advance how much you are comfortable losing. Do not bet more than that amount.
  • Pick markets you understand. Match winner is straightforward; ball-by-ball is more complex. Get comfortable with simpler markets first.
  • Stay calm in live betting. Odds change fast, so keep a clear head — rushed decisions are often wrong ones.
  • Keep it fun. Every bet is an entertainment experience — focus on enjoying it rather than just winning. Visit the Responsible Gaming page to learn about responsible betting.
  • Read the rules. Going through baji's Terms and Conditions once will make bonuses and withdrawal matters much clearer.
21+ Cricket betting and all other betting and casino activities at baji are only for those aged 21 and above. Participation by minors is strictly prohibited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, live in-play betting is available at baji for both BPL and IPL matches. New odds are updated after every over and wicket even after the match has started, so you can keep betting throughout the entire match.

The bookmaker sets a specific run line. If you think the team will score more than that number, choose 'Over'; if you think they will score less, choose 'Under'. The result is decided by comparing the actual runs scored at the end of the match.

In Test cricket, there are three possible outcomes with separate odds — Team A wins, Team B wins, and draw. If you bet on 'draw' and the match ends in a draw, you win. You lose the bet on either of the other two outcomes. T20 and ODI matches cannot end in a draw, so only two options are available there.

No. In a multi bet, all selections must win together. If even one loses, the entire bet is lost — nothing is returned for the remaining winning selections. So while the potential return on a multi bet is higher, so is the risk.

T20 is a good starting point for beginners — matches are short, results come quickly and the markets are straightforward. Place your first few bets on match winner and toss markets, then gradually try other markets. Once you get used to it during the BPL season, other tournaments will feel more comfortable too.
